It’s like I can feel Katie slapping her forehead across the East River. Fuckin’ Sundays!
Win:
Melissa Johnson, “known for her sardonic humor and love of dark, gory films and burlesque” was surprised when she fell for chipper Timothy Lagasse, an “endlessly upbeat designer and fabricator of puppets” who works for shows like Sesame Street. (Dude, what is the Times’ deal with the Sesame Street hard-on? Also, hello perverts who found this page by Googling Sesame Street hard-on!)

Sam Bush and David Grisman - “The Girl from North Country”
I’ve been rummaging through a ton of old possessions in preparation for a move to a new place (don’t worry, I’m actually going to be closer to my coffee shop) and came across a box of old cd’s I had never ripped or thrown out. They are, for the most part, ALL high quality live bluegrass recordings. Most even have tracks for the chatter between songs.
This song is from a set that Grisman and Bush played together sometime in the early 2000’s (aughts?), and perfectly epitomizes my former obsession with the mandolin. It’s also ruined ANY other interpretation of this Dylan classic for me - I just can’t hear anyone sing this sweet melody without the accompaniment of the mandolin.
I’ve uploaded the entire disc for some old friends, you can download it here: http://drop.io/sambushdavidgrisman
(apologies, I don’t have the setlist/track listing anywhere anymore)
